On the 5th of September until 9th of September was a very special day for me. It was also an unforgettable experience for me. I had a 5-day 4-night military camp. It is actually called Shenzen Whompao Military leadership training camp. All though all the instructions and the commands were in Putonghua. But I knew most of them by their pronunciation. Putonghua Is very similar to Chinese. “Ee” means one, “Er” means two, “San” means three and “Su” means four. In the first day of camp, I already felt tired and missed my home a lot.
I really wanted to go home but I knew it was impossible. On the second day things got better as I got used to it. Well there was also some time when we had lots of great fun. Such as tank riding, water gun fight, paintball battle, agricultural activities and kung fu training.
We ate our breakfast, lunch and dinner usually very early than I eat it at home. And worst of it the food was not yummy. There was a tuck shop were we could buy cold drinks. And also the made was made of thin wood and there was only a blanket and a pillow. The room was not very big and we had to share it with 12 people.
We have to do a lot of military drilling and sometimes we had to stand without moving for half an hour and if we move the trainer will scold us and ask us to do 100 push-ups.
We also had to wash the clothes ourselves. Finally on the last day of our camp I was relieved to go back home again. After this camp I’ve been more disciplined and more responsible. I’ve also got real military experience. I hope some day I can go again even though it was hard.
I’m very proud of Gurkhas as they’ve been in more hard training than have and they have trained for a long time. God bless them for their bravery and discipline.
